Helping others become their authentic selves is where my light shines. I feel honored to witness your journey toward wholeness.
Hi, I’m Amy.
My Journey
My first social work experience was spending time in the summer with my Aunt Ellen who was diagnosed with cancer. We would talk, laugh and go on boardwalk rides. During those moments she was a whole person, not a cancer patient. Through those many visits as a teenager, before her death, made a powerful imprint on both of our lives. Life lesson learned… relationship is impactful…being present is imperative.
In college, I majored in Social Work at East Carolina University. Go Pirates! Accepted into the Masters program as one of 25 Advanced Standing students, I earned my graduate degree in less than 2 years in 1996. Since that time, I have worked in many different areas as a Psychiatric Social Worker, EAP Consultant, Utilization Reviewer, Manager and Director of Behavioral Health operations.
Just like many of you, 2020 became a time of reassessment, therefore deciding to return to direct care and work in a private practice setting. I felt led to create a sense of balance, positive energy and grounding not only in my life, but in the lives of others. Christian faith propelled me here and I enjoy working with other faiths, as well as secular belief systems.
Helping others become their authentic selves is where my light shines. Life is about relationship and connection. How does our past impact our sense of self? How do our thoughts and feelings impact our behavior? Meeting my clients where they are and tailoring the approach to what they need is paramount.
I’m excited to get started on this healing journey with you.
