Frequently Asked Questions

Do you see clients in person or virtually?

1

Yes, I provide both types of sessions. I see great value meeting in person, as I like the connection and rapport that is allowed more fully in the same shared space. However, not all schedules allow for this so virtual sessions work well due to distance and hectic calendars.

Yes I take Aetna, Cigna and United health. I will verify your coverage and file claims on your behalf.

2

Do you take insurance?

Are there benefits to self pay?

3

The benefit to private pay sessions is that there is no diagnosis needed, no medical necessity criteria to meet, no audits from insurance companies, no session limits or dictation on how often sessions can be held.

Is there a late cancel fee or No show fee?

4

Yes - Sessions time slots are held especially for you. If a session is cancelled less than 24 hrs or a client does not show up for an appt, then an $85 fee is applied to the credit card on file.

Therapy allows a safe space to talk openly about issues with someone who is objective, non-judgmental, and clinically trained to support you through a variety of concerns. With the right fit, talk therapy is empirically shown to help reduce or resolve symptoms and assist you in leading a more satisfying life.

5

What are the benefits of therapy?

Are there risks to therapy?

6

Therapy can bring up uncomfortable and painful emotions. This can happen but is a normal response. I believe in self -determination and a pace that feels comfortable for exploration.

What types of populations or issues do you not work with?

7

Due to my scope of practice and area of expertise, here are a few populations I refer out for care:

  • Children,

  • Adolescents,

  • Clients with eating disorders,

  • Clients navigating substance use disorders,

  • Client seeking clinical support for gender reassignment procedures

I take Aetna, Cigna and United health. I will verify your coverage and file claims on your behalf. In the event that you do not have one of those insurances, we will discuss private costs and the process for reimbursement from your insurance provider.

  • "One of the best investments and decisions I have made in the past 12 months has been to start therapy. After many losses and with compounding grief from world events, I knew it would be in my best interest to start talking with someone. During our initial conversation, I was able to ask questions to confirm, for myself, that Amy would be a good fit for me. It was imperative that I have someone who could have an open-mind as I knew topics of equality, justice, trauma, assault, and grief would be recurring for me."

  • "The impact that she has had on my life, and also my families life, is nothing short of amazing. She helped me navigate the waters of PTSD, being a caretaker for a loved one with dementia, marriage issues, childhood trauma and my crippling anxiety. My life has changed in so many ways and it has a lot to do with her guidance and her help."

    —Former Client

  • Amy has a warmth and softness that makes her easy to talk with about hard things.

    —Former Client

  • "I never feel judged or dismissed by her. She pays attention and is easily able to connect things from previous conversations and provides resources for me to work towards healthy solutions.
